The INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE CIENCIAS AGRÍCOLAS (INCA) in agreement with the new organizing system of Science and Technological Innovation, enhances its scientific policy based on PROJECTS, dealing with basic and applied research, and innovation technology. The 30-year-old experience gathered by professionals has enabled to prescribe the following PROJECT subjects.

PLANT BREEDING
- Regional studies of Cuban potato varieties
- Evaluation, preservation and maintenance of potato germplasm in Cuba
- Production of potato varieties tolerating biotic and abiotic stresses
- Selection of new tomato varieties resisting high temperatures, salinity and drought, besides tolerating diseases and adapted to low-input crop technologies
- Production of short and mid-term rice varieties with its working technology
- Production of new rice varieties for saline and water stress conditions
- Creation of a tropical flower germplasm reserve fund
- Production and propagation of new salinity-tolerant ornamental varieties with its working technology
- Preservation, characterization and maintenance of significant crop collection to agriculture and foodstuff

- Production of new potato genotypes by means of stress tolerant biotechonological methods
- Establishment of a methodology for artificial coffee seed production
